What a cool new ride

December 15th, 2005

We rode the new Buzz Light Year attraction! Wow, what a very cool ride. This is a car ride, like many of the kids rides in the park. The ride is interactive, you get to shoot targets during the ride. Each target is worth points, and more points if it is lit. You compete against the other person on the ride with you.

A very cool new ride. Oh wait, did I say that already?

I scored 43,550 points on my 1st ride. About 1/10th the score of the daily record. I can’t wait to go back and try it out again.

Where not to stay

December 15th, 2005

Well it never fails that whenever I try to pick a new hotel to stay at we have a bad experience. This time it was the Desert Inn. I wanted to stay accross the street from the entrance this time. I figured, that it would be convient to just walk over to the park and back again when we leave.

I was wrong. First off, I waited about 5 minutes before I got any help to check in. After checking in, I noticed that we were required to leave the parking lot by 2pm on the day we checked out. I mentioned that this was not documented on the web site or the reservations. I just got a blank stare.

The room was on the 5th floor. The shower did not work, I could not turn on the water without extreme difficulty, and the hot/cold knob just spun without changing the temp. The drain would not work. It kept shutting off while it was draining. I finally had to disassemble the drain so that the water would drain.

In the middle of the night, the plumbing above us was dripping every few seconds. It was quite loud and kept us awake.

The breakfast was toast and juice, what a crock.

Anyway, I think it’s back to Candy Cane Inn. I just need to stop trying to find other hotels and stick with the one we know is good 😉

CBS Radio Mystery Theater

December 12th, 2005

Back in the the 1970’s… You remember them don’t you? Oh wait, some of you were not even swimming in the gene pool yet… Man I feel old 😉 Anyway, back in the 1970’s there was a great Radio Show called “CBS Radio Mystery Theater”. I used to listen to it every night at 9pm. Some of these shows helped fuel my imagination and have turned me into the demented person I am 😀

I have embarked on a monumental task. I am editing 1400 episodes of the show. I plan to cut out the comercials so that they are only about 45 minutes long each.

I have been fighting trying to find a decent audio editing tool for mp3. So far most of the tools I have found convert the file, then you have to convert them back to mp3. This is very time consuming. I did find one tool called mp3 trimmer, but it was very difficult to use the first go around. Plus my power mate doesn’t work very well in it.

So consider this a formal call for volunteers to help me edit up my library. I also have found a few episodes that are missing their introductions.

If anyone is insterested in decending into this madness of editing, let me know and I will show you what needs to be done.

So you just got a new mac…

December 10th, 2005

Ok, you finally came over to the light side and bought a mac! Yeah!

So I am always asked; “what else should I buy?” I have put together a few must have’s for mac users.

Most users enter the mac world with a power book or the mini. The first thing your going to need is port/disk expansion. I highly recommend the Mini-Pal. This neet little device gives you expanded usb and firewire ports, plus a faster hard drive. It even has a one button backup system.

Want to use your mac as a Digital Video recorder? Get an eyeTV card. And better yet, get the eyeHome. This will let you watch your video, photos, music, or any of your eyeTV recorded shows on your TV.

Do you want to do video or audio editing? If you want to have very fine control over the cursor, get a Powermate. I love mine, and having it pulse whenever I have new mail is the ultimate geek toy.

An Ipod! But hey, I don’t need to tell you that. But what you really need is two software programs. Jhymn and Make AAC’s Bookmarkable

If you have a mini, you really need 1gig of memory

Enjoy your new mac!

Dear itunes Music Store: You Blew It!

December 6th, 2005

Well I have been buying music on and off from the itunes music store for the last year or so and have not not had a problem until tonight. I have been trying to buy a few new albums and have zero luck.

When I try to buy an album, I get:

Purchase of this item is not currently available
This item is being modified. Please try again later.

That’s just wrong… These albums have been available for the longest time. When I go into a store and the checkstand is too long or nobody is at the register, I usually leave. So, that is what I did. I went to amazon to buy them.

Apple you blew it!
