Angie and I went to the first concert in a long time. I think the last one was U2 at Jack Murphy stadium. We left work early and drove up to Anaheim. We ate dinner then went to the concert.
The first thing I noticed right away was that they allowed cameras and cell phones into the concert. I remember a time when you would get bounce on your ear for having a camera. We had tickets on the floor. The opening act was MIA. The group was made up of two girls and a DJ. Their music was a bit of rap to an African/jungle beat. They were from Sri Lanka.
In the arena, they had two video screens. They encouraged people to use their cell phones to take photos and send them to their web site, as well as text messages to the screen. During the intermission they displayed all of the text messages. This service was a very ingenious idea on their part.
The concert was amazing. Gwen played every song from the album and two songs we had not heard before. Every song had a costume change. Angie’s favorite was the long silver dress she wore when she sang Luxurious.
During the concert we found out they were filming for the DVD soon to come out. She is originally from Anaheim, so this concert was her coming home. I am not sure she played in Anaheim when she toured with No Doubt.
It was a fun night! If you don’t have the album yet, run, don’t walk and get yourself a copy.
