Can I buy a clue for $50 Pat?

Filed under: Items in the Pensieve,Muggle Tech — Darkavich @ 10:54 pm

Ok, so I went to Time Warner today to find out the difference between their HD cable boxes and Cable Card.

Can you actually believe I was told.. “You can not get High Definition signals with the Cable Card.”

My mouth actually tried to speak but I couldn’t.

Best Buy is back in my fair graces

Filed under: Muggle Tech — Darkavich @ 8:52 pm

Ok, I spent the entire day today wanting to slap best buy in the face. I found the TV at Costco for $2100 cheaper than Best Buy. Only problem was it had a 20 business day delivery time and $199 delivery price.

So I went around to Circuit City, Tweeter, Convoy Video, and Fry’s to shop the price and see if anyone would match Costco.

I would have NEVER have thought of going to Fry’s to look at the tv, but Tweeter said they would match Fry’s. They specifically say “not Costco”. So I braved the crowds at Fry’s on a Saturday! I looked and looked and could not find the 1080p TV’s. I stumbled upon a high tech audio room that had the receiver I am looking at… “but that is another story for another day”. So I checked out all their theater rooms and Eurika, there was the 1080p Samsung TV’s.

I was checking them out and my mouth dropped when I saw the price. They had a $2000 instant savings on the TV. So the price was $2999.

I was all ready to go back to Best Buy and force them to match the price. I was all amo’d up and ready for battle. But before we went, we stopped for dinner. Because it’s best to do battle on a full stomach. 😀

I went into their Magnolia room and talked with Justin. I asked them if they would match the price and he said that they already had a manager special for that price. WHY THE HELL THE OTHER GUYS DIDN’T KNOW THIS I DON’T KNOW!

I spent a long time talking with him, but the end result of the conversation is I am going back Monday to buy the TV and it will be he in time for me to watch the Steelers kick but in the Super Bowl in HIGH DEF. And the best part of this is, NO INTEREST payments for 3 years.

Do you fancy me a prirate?

Filed under: Items in the Pensieve — Darkavich @ 10:24 pm

A curse be on Mario for pointing me to this site! And after seeing that arr, bad pirate skit on SNL last week..

My pirate name is:

Black Sam Rackham

Like anyone confronted with the harshness of robbery on the high seas, you can be pessimistic at times. You have the good fortune of having a good name, since Rackham (pronounced RACKem, not rack-ham) is one of the coolest sounding surnames for a pirate. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.

Filed under: Muggle Tech — Darkavich @ 10:37 pm

As most people know, I use readerware. This is a wonderfull library cataloging program. Today while listening to: TWIT I learned about a neater program for the mac called delicious library. I am currently testing it out. It will actually import from Readerware.

A review will be coming later comparing the two programs.
