You can leave your hat on.

Now that all the heavy stuff is done, the coping is being installed. Because our pool is so curvy, it is hard to see how it will look until the grout is installed.

They should finish the coping cap today, and be able to start on the tile tomorrow. That assumes the materials arrive today 😉

Work starts up again.

October 23rd, 2006

Well after rain last week and some delays due to scheduling we are back working on the pool.

The trenches are all filled in, except for one small section. While digging up the dirt, we this funky connection.

Nothing we have found underground has made any sense. This is why we are ripping out everything and starting from scratch.

The new skimmer was set in concrete today.

And the coping stones arrived today as well.

Tomorrow they will start preparing the edge of the pool to install the coping. Things should start moving along again.

First…Kill all the lawyers

This just pisses me off. I finally see that i-tunes store finally has heroes. If you have not watched this show, you SHOULD! Mario, remember what I said about Stargate? This is so much better a show. I am on the edge of my seat for the entire show.

Anyway, I digress. I see they have the show for download, but the premier is missing. It turns out NBC is being sued over showing a garbage disposal being used with a hand inserted into it. This is just stupid..

Where will this silliness end? Will Lexus start suing CBS because they showed a car breaking the legs of a person on CSI:NY? And honestly, is this going to make a single person stop buying their disposal? When is the last time you ever bought another brand other than theirs?

I so hope the judge has a fricken clue and tosses this one out. Hey and NBC if you see this, have some guts and put the episode up for purchase. Better yet, just buy the damn company and fire their lawyers.

I do exist! Really

knock three times on the pipes

October 13th, 2006

The last two weeks have been spent pretty much tearing out concrete. The company did a really piss-poor job. It was supposed to take them 2.5 days and it took almost ten, yes 10 days. Now, yes the concrete was thicker than they planned, but I don’t by that excuse. They should have brought out more crew to get it done on time.

After they were done, we dug trenches. These trenches will hold the water, electrical, gas and my network conduit. It will be nice to have all this under ground.

We also upgraded all the plumbing to bigger pipes. One of the problems with the old system is the pipes were too small, so the volume of water was not large enough to produce the bubbles for the spa.

We installed a new suction line so that the skimmer and suction are separate. The should help prevent the pump from ever running dry. In addition, we added a new check valve to the solar return. This helps eliminate a dangerous valve that was in the system that could be closed and build up pressure. We removed this and replaced it with a check valve.

All of the equipment was moved down about five feet. so that it is away from the doorways. This will allow us to put our trash containers outside the doors and give us more room for the walkway.

At the end of this week, they finally filled in all the trenches. Just in time too, as it started to rain today. This weekend will be spent pulling the cables through the data pipes and hooking up the network and cable-tv underground. If time permits, I will work on clearing out dirt to start leveling the hill. I plan to terrace it to two levels.
