Best Buy (maybe)

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

Went to best buy last night to buy the samsung tv. I won’t bore you with all the details, but just let me say I may not be buying anything from them again.

I was lied to, insulted and told that they won’t match internet pricing. Many of you know that they always match internet pricing. This is now the second time I have tried to buy a big screen tv from them. The first time was such a rediculous situation. This time I was told by two stores they didn’t sell the model I was looking for.

I happened to stop by the Mira Mesa store and noticed they have a Magnolia section, that has higher end tv’s. And sure enough they had the TV. I noticed the TV price was higher than MSRP.

I questioned them on that, and was told that it was the lowest price they are allowed to sell the tv for. I then pointed out that the smaller size tv was selling for $300 below MSRP. So that was obviously a lie about not being able to sell for less.

I will probably have to wait a few weeks for other stores to start carrying the model. I have not decided I want to take a risk and buy from an online store.

a little MLT would be nice.

While wandering around in nethack world I found some writing.

You read: “Mary had a little lamb/Its fleece was white as snow/When Mary was in trouble/The lamb was first to go”

I guess that college course finally came in handy.

Ok, as some of you know I have been fighting with the water level in my pond. I was focused on leaks and overfilling the water line.

Turns out that neither of these were the cause. I have been trying to analyze the problem and had been stumped for several months. The solution finally came to me, in the strangest of places… On the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland.

I was watching the water after we went down the first plume. I noticed that the water seemed to not flow as fast when the boats were stopped vs when they were moving. This got me thinking about fluid dynamics. I KNOW!!! Your saying, your such a geek if your at Disneyland and your thinking about physics.

An idea hit me. The problem I was having was not water level, but flow. The root balls of some of the plants are so large they cause an underwater barrier that slows down the water.

So yesterday morning I started pulling out all the egyptian papyrus. What a mess… Once I removed a clear path all the way down the stream the water flow seems to increase. I turned back on the pump and crossed my fingers.

As of this afternoon (1.5 days later) the water level in the filter has not dropped. This is a very good sign. I am so glad I took those physics classes in college. I finally get to use the knowledge.

I think I am in love!

I have been searching for a new TV that does DLP. I ran across this at DLP Review:

Now to see if I can get it in time to watch the superbowl.

Where does the time go?

I can’t believe I just spent 4 hours playing nethack! As you know I have a tournament site

I was chugging along, finally cleared both the gnomish mines and the funky tower levels, was down to dungeon level 12 and got bitten by a fricken wear-rat! And I had no garlic or potion of healing or restore. I eventually died from both starvation and fainting while being attacked:

Doom on level 7 [max 10]. Killed by a soldier ant. – [132]
