Day Twenty: 5/12
We got up at
9:00am; this was our last full day in Europe L. We ate the fruit from the welcome plate.
Then we walked to the bus tour stop and strolled around a block as we got there
way early.
On the bus we rode
through the old part of town. We saw the Universities and learned a little
history of the city. The most
impressive statistic was that almost 99% of the students in the city go to some
form of college.
The bus ride was
very nice as we rode along ZürichSee.

After the bus ride, we stopped in Rapperswil.
This is a 13th century town. This town was used as a rest stop for pilgrims
crossing the lake. There is a very narrow footbridge that can be used to walk
across the lake. We walked through the small town. They were having a flea market and selling their unwanted
stuff.
We walked up the hill to the church pictured on the left to get a look
around the city. There was a wedding in progress so we could not go inside the
church. We just took some pictures and
looked at the gardens.
After walking
around the city and checking out where the boat for our return was leaving
from, we decided to have lunch at Cafe Coditorei. It took us a while to get a
table, but we waited until one was vacated. Once the waitress came over, we
ordered our lunch. Angie had their famous cheesecake (cheese bread that is like
a pizza). I just had a sandwich. I was not that hungry.
We boarded the ZürichSee boat for our 2-hour
voyage back to Zürich. It was a very nice relaxing day. We have included a few
links to the pictures below.
I
had no idea they were kissing when I took this!

When we got back
to Zurich, we walked back down Bahnhofstrasse.
This is a street closed to vehicular traffic and is only for pedestrians. We stopped and bought some chocolates at Sprüngli. As we walked along the street we
noticed that there were several painted benches.
We stopped and
bought some ice cream and strolled back to the hotel. We got back to the hotel and tried to take a nap. After such a
relaxing day it was difficult to get to sleep. We watched an episode of "Charmed" in German. After our
rest, we got dressed for dinner. We decided to eat at the Hotel. They had a
very nice restaurant called La Brassere. We had a very big dinner and
dessert. We also spent about 2 hours
eating. Since this was our last night
in Europe, we didn’t want to be rushed.
After dinner we
walked back to our room and finished packing for the trip home.
