Day Nineteen: 5/11
We headed off for our final city! We packed
and headed out. We got some pastries before hopping on the bus to the Munich
train station. We are off to Switzerland. The train ride was uneventful. We ate on the train and watched the Bavarian
countryside roll by.
We arrived in Zürich
and walked to the hotel. The hotel
staff was very friendly and we had a fruit basket in our room to greet us. I think this is the only hotel that remembered
this was our Anniversary. We showered and washed out our clothes. We did just enough clothes to get us
home. No sense in doing a ton of
laundry if we were going home in a few days. We decided to take a nap. The view
from our hotel room was very nice. It was so nice; you could just sit in a
chair looking out and take a nap.
We got up and decided to find some dinner. We
asked the hotel for a recommendation. On the way out of the hotel we saw a
couple. The man was all in business dress while the woman was wearing a
raincoat. She had on a collar and 4inch heels. Angie thought she was a hooker.
I think she was his slave. Didn't have the camera out or I would have snapped a
picture.
We took a walking tour through the old business section of Zürich. We saw a really cool
sign on our walk. It was a wrought iron sign of two cats.
We decided to try out the hotel
recommendation for dinner. We had dinner at Adler Swiss Churchi. For once a hotel got it right! Perhaps this
is because it was a Marriott! The
restaurant had Fondue (bread and melted cheese) and Raclette Poulet (chicken
roasted at the table with cheese and potatoes). You use a special cooking appliance to
melt the cheese and grill the chicken at the same time. There was way too much
food to eat. Being this was our 2nd
to last day of vacation we didn’t take any of the leftovers with us.

Outside the restaurant, there were some street performers. There was a
very large crowd there. We walked past
a water fountain that had a watermelon in it. I will tell you about that later.
We walked past the oldest wooden bridge in Zürich. We also walked
around the town and took pictures of the famous clock tower, with the largest
clock face of any outdoor clock tower.
Steve started to have an allergy attack and
we had to find a pharmacy. In Europe,
it appears that there is always one pharmacy that is open 24 hours a day. All medicine, even over the counter stuff
has to be purchased from a pharmacy. We
found some allergy medicine and that seemed to do the trick after about 2
hours.
