Steve & Angie's Anniversary Trip
San Antonio, Texas

Day 1 - Tuesday, May 16th

We arrived at the airport after work and got ready to fly out. We are all ready to start our vacation to celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary. We boarded the plane and settled in for our one-hour flight to Las Vegas. It was a real bummer that Southwest Airline doesn't have Kaluha. I really wanted a White Russian and I am sure Angie did too. At 16:50 we are finally on our way. The initial climb out was a bit bumpy, but after a few minutes we had smooth winds.

Idle thought: One wonders if a palm pilot is considered an electronic device then why is a digital watch allowed? On a similar note, why do the airlines lie to you about cell phones? The real reason they do not want you to use them is that they flood the network and end up switching from one cell to another as fast as possible.

We arrived in Las Vegas with no problems after about an hour flight. We are sitting here watching the flight crew clean the plane. First time I have actually been on a plane while they cleaned it. Most of the time we have to exit the plane while they do this. It took them about 25 minutes to clean and reload the plane. After the new cattle got on the plane we departed again.

The flight to San Antonio was about 3 hours or so. On this flight time we got more than a bag of peanuts and a single drink. They gave us dolphin crackers. These crackers are like Pepperidge Farms goldfish only these crackers were dolphins. We also got to keep the can of soda, ooohh!!

We finally arrived!! Ears clogged and all. I hate flying with a cold or allergies. We hopped on the shuttle to the car rental agency We got our car and then arrived at the hotel with the aid of hertz neverlost. More on this neat little tool later.

It was about 23:00 when we got to the hotel. The weather was nice and warm, ah that lovely desert heat. But it’s a dry heat…. No wait this isn’t the Mojave Desert. It IS a humid heat. We decided not to valet park.  The Hilton where we stayed didn’t have an attached parking garage. The parking garage for the hotel is about 1.5 blocks away. It was not that bad of a walk. It was just a little confusing the first time to find the hotel after we exited the parking garage.

We unpacked and hunted for a place to eat. Unfortunately, every food place was closed so we ordered room service. Angie had the fruit plate and I had a Caesar Salad. Good thing she didn’t have the salad. It not only had anchovy dressing, it had three anchovies in it. Good for me, but yeach for her. While we ate, we watched ESPN sports center and found out the padres won 2 in a row!! Good Job.
