Day 6 - Thursday, May 6th, 1999

We got up and ate breakfast at the Marketplace restaurant. The food was so-so, but they did have a huge selection. It was typical morning brunch buffet food.

After breakfast, I headed over to the Spa for my session. Basically, the treatment was an interesting experience. First I got undressed and waited for the helper to take me to the "grotto" room. The room was split in two. The front was a shower with soaps and body lotions. I took a shower then went into the next room.

This room was set-up with four sinks in a clover pattern, which radiated around a pole. Each sink had a different type of mud. The first was for the face. It was a light gray colored mud and had a soft consistency. I spread it all over my face and it felt really weird. The second was for the front of the body. It was a light brownish-red colored mud. This mud had the consistency of what you expected mud to be like. The next sink had very black colored mud. This was for the back of the body. The last sink had sand granules. This was for the elbows and the knees to get rid of that yucky dead skin. After I was completely covered in MUD, I sat down in another shower looking alcove. There were three of them in this room. The seat was heated and so were the walls. It was quite cozy and there was soft music playing.

After I sat down, the room filled with steam. The steam was mixed with lime juice so it smelled like limes. The steam would fill the room for a few minutes then it would evaporate, then fill up the room again. The seats were comfortable, but it was a little claustrophobic in the alcoves. The steam lasted for about 25 minutes. After the steam was done, I showered again. The alcoves double as a shower. I WANT ONE OF THESE SHOWERS FOR OUR HOME. There is the normal head spigot for the hair and back, but there were four heads on the side of the walls that crossed each other. This really felt good and you get clean real fast with all those showerheads!

I then exited the "grotto" and took a shower using the "instant refreshing gel". This stuff was wonderful! I need to find a place to buy it. Your skin just feels cool all over when you are done. This would be great on a hot summer day! I then exited and got dressed. The cool sensation lasted over an hour. It was a fun and interesting experience. I recommend it to everyone. Plus it only cost $59.00.

I went back to the room and collected Angie who was ready to check out of the hotel. This was our last day on Paradise Island. We then went back to the lazy river for our last float around the river. We laid out for an hour or so, then headed over to the water slides again. We went down a couple of the slides then I tried to get Angie to go down the big slide. She chickened out at the last minute! It is a 10-story drop, and she decided the drop was not something fun to do on vacation.

We walked through the adventure path. They had a really cool suspension bridge:

We then laid out some more by the pool. After we were done laying out we went and grabbed some sandwiches at Murray's and ate them in the hotel lounge with a couple of drinks. We played cards for a couple hours and then caught the shuttle back to the airport. Bye-bye Paradise Island < sniff >. We caught our plane back to Florida.

We arrived in Florida and got a rental car. We then decided to drive to Miami Beach and see about a room. We drove into Miami Beach and checked it out. Nothing really looked that great, so we continued on down to Miami. We found a Hampton Inn that was reasonably priced and available. We checked into the Inn and went to dinner. We went to the Coconut Grove for dinner and ate at an Italian fast food restaurant. The food was pretty good. We walked around after dinner and looked at the shopping center.

There was this one artist that was using spray paint to create beautiful pictures. These pictures were of space and planets. They showed moonrises and other astral designs. We drove back to the hotel and went to bed.
